Piano Lessons in Temple Hills

Hi my name is Da'Shawn Covington, DC Grammy Chapter Member pianist and music producer with over five years of teaching experience. I specialize in helping students build a strong musical foundation while keeping lessons engaging, creative, and tailored to their individual interests.

My teaching style blends jazz, R&B, and contemporary piano approaches, allowing students to learn in a way that feels modern, expressive, and relevant. While I emphasize core fundamentals like technique, rhythm, and music theory, I also incorporate improvisation, chord progressions, and real-world musical concepts that help students connect deep\ply with what they're playing.

What sets my lessons apart is my ability to merge traditional piano instruction with creativity and modern music production. Students do not just learn how to play, they learn how to understand music, explore their own ideas, and develop confidence in their sound. This approach keeps students engaged and excited while building confidence.

In addition to teaching piano, I am an active music producer and performing artist with experience working with local artists, performing on stage, and releasing my own projects. I am affiliated with the Recording Academy (Grammy Chapter), and my work has earned sync placements with major platforms and studios including Tyler Perry Studios, VH1, and Paramount Plus. These industry experiences allow me to bring valuable real-world insight into my lessons, giving students a broader understanding of how music lives beyond the piano.
